I have been teaching in the area of birth for 10 years. I am certified with International Childbirth Education Association, as well as, Doulas of North America. Birth, breastfeeding, labor support and teaching about them are some things for which I have a passion. My first experience as a doula was 22 years ago and the passion has grown since then. I am a certified lactation counselor and have taught breastfeeding, childbirth educators and doulas in the Philippines, Hawaii and California. I will go anywhere, to anyone, who has a desire and a passion for this life changing gift to women. I also love to teach in my home which overlooks Bass Lake. The women I have taught here have said that it was a relaxing and comfortable place to learn.
I believe the most important things about me, as a teacher, are my life experience. I have been a teacher most of my life but I did not go the traditional route. I have learned by doing and independent study. I have taught nursery school, swimming, horseback riding, 4H and have raised three children which, as you know, is a teaching position. I have 3 children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Family is very important to me and I believe that the bond that is established at birth for the entire family is vital to our society. I told you I was passionate.
I have experience and success in forming doula groups. In 2004 Doulas of North America awarded the Annie Kennedy award to the best doula group of the year which I formed to serve Valley State Prison for Women in Chowchilla, CA.
